This year they ran the course in reverse, either way makes a challenging, scenic, fun 101km loop. With a chilly 8am start in St Albans, we hit the first climb splitting the bunch with 6 of us reaching the top first. Working together nicely towards the 40 km point before the long 15km section of rock levels began (very difficult stretch). Andy Blair, Shawn Lewis put the hammer down as I lost touch with the front leaving myself and James Downing in chase. From here we pushed on eventually reeling in Tristan Ward at the 70km point leaving James and myself to sprint off for 4th. To be honest I didn’t have anything to bring to the sprint with James riding so strongly. Great fun though. Well done to everyone competing. Especially Andy Blair 1st, Shawn Lewis 2nd and Craig Cooke 3rd. A big thanks to Triple Play Clothing for keeping me warm during the 2 degree start temperatures.
